Whitewater/No PLC/Flea Market – help needed

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

WHITEWATER TRIP:

From Scout Chris M.:
If you have not turned in your whitewater final
payment, you MUST, MUST have it to me by this
Thursday. The payment is $75 if you weren’t sure. If
you’re paying in full, it’s $120 per person. Wild
Waters needs the payment. I would prefer it in cash,
but if you need to mail it or need to write a check,
that would be acceptable, too. Please make checks out
to “cash” Thank-you!

NO PATROL LEADERS’ COUNCIL:
Per SPL Pat M., there will NOT be a PLC this Sunday.

FLEA MARKET CLEAN-UP:

Scouts, if you can volunteer to help clean-up the
Saturday Flea Market at Shepardson Community Center
from 2-4 this Saturday, May 3rd, please e-mail Mrs.
Marcucci at committeechair@troop5middlebury.org.
If any adults can help, please e-mail me. This is a service project to
benefit our sponsoring organization Middlebury
Congregational Church. Please wear class B uniforms.
Thanks very much!!!

Scout Sunday/Bottle Drive, etc.

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Hello Troop 5:

BOARDS OF REVIEW:

Scouts who have successfully passed their Scoutmaster
Conference and need a board of review, please call Mr.
Curry ASAP to schedule.

BOTTLE DRIVE:

Adults and Scouts, if you can help with the Bottle
Drive this Saturday, February 9th from 9-11 or 11-1,
please e-mail Mr. DeAngelis

SCOUT SUNDAY:

Scout Sunday is this Sunday, February 10th. This is
an opportunity for the Troop to thank our sponsoring
organization Middlebury Congregational Church (MCC).
Think of all the meetings we hold at the church:
weekly, training, Boards of Review, Courts of Honors,
Eagle Courts of Honor, Dinners, etc., etc. Think of
the equipment we store free of charge. Think of the
electric and heating bill the church covers so that we
can meet. The MCC truly supports Scouting in the
Community via Boy Scout Troop 5 and Cub Pack 6.

Please consider dropping your son off to attend the
10:00 A.M. service this Sunday. Your whole family is
welcome, but there will be adult coverage so a
drop-off is OK. The Troop also will be sponsoring the
social hour after church, so baked goods are greatly
appreciated.

***Class A uniforms are required.***

If your son can attend and/or usher (arrive at 9:30)
or if you can contribute baked goods, please e-mail me
at committeechai@troop5middlebury.org

Thank you in advance for saying thank you to the MCC.

Sincerely,

Maureen Marcucci, Committee Chairman

Road Race 11/3 & Pasta Supper Update

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

From Karen Curry, Pasta Supper Co-Chairman:

Hi everyone!
I am so happy with the way things went on
Saturday at the Pasta Dinner…Thank you all!

I have a request from the Middlebury Congregational
Church for help this Saturday, Nov. 3rd for their road
race. The older Scouts will help guide people to park
their cars and all Scouts there will help runners
along the race to know which way to go. There will be
appropriate adult coverage from Troop 5, but more
parents are always welcome.

We need to be there for about 7:45 A.M. and will
probably be there until about 11 A.M. Sounds fun!
The race starts at 10 and there will be many walkers.
Anyone who can help for whatever time span would be
greatly appreciated. There will be a sign-up sheet at
the meeting this Thurs. or you may call me. Please consider
helping our Charter Organization! Scouts, this counts
for your service hours for advancement.

Thank you!
Karen Curry

From Maureen Marcucci, Committee Chairman:

Thank you to everyone who helped with our pasta
supper. We had 75% of the Scouts in our Troop
participating and many, many adults. We do not have
final numbers, but currently estimate that we raised
$3,000 and served over 200 dinners.

Thank you to the following Scouts who participated:

Toby A., Andrew B., Nathan B., Adam B., Ryan B.,
Jordan C., Ed C., Tommy C., Eric D., John D., Alex F.,
Henry H., Mike J., Frank K., Nick K., Pat M., Nick M.,
Paul M., Chris M., Matt M., Eli P., Joe P., Zach R.,
Erik R., Kevin R., Graham R., Brendan R., Marc R.,
Jack S., John W., Justin Z.

I don’t know the names of all the parents and other
adults as I was busy making brownie sundaes, but thank
you all for making this a fun and highly successful
fundraiser.

Three cheers to Tom & Karen Curry (co-chairmen) and
Denise Black and Shelley Pille for working so hard on
this event!!!

The carwash raised almost $1,000. Thank you to all
who helped out by sending baked goods, towels, washing
cars, and getting their cars washed. Thanks again to
Dom and Elaine Romano for their organizational talents
and enthusiasm. We hope to have another carwash in
the spring.

Yours in Scouting,

Maureen Marcucci

Service Project this Saturday

Monday, April 30th, 2007

This Saturday, May 5th at 3 PM Troop 5 will be assisting our sponsoring organization Middlebury Congregational Church in its Flea Market clean-up. If you can help, please e-mail me at committeechair@troop5middlebury.org

This is the only service project that the church asks us to participate in each year. They provide so much for us, and we need to do our good turn to show our appreciation.

I am told it is a lot of fun throwing televisions and computer terminals into dumpsters and getting free leftover stuff. We will be at Shepardson Community Center for 1-2 hours. Please join us!

Also, check out the new photos at www.troop5middlebury.org website. It looks like the climbing weekend was a great time.
