Coming Fall 2008 – The NEW Offical Scout Uniforms
Hot off the presses -
Beginning in fall 2008, and in honor of the BSA’s 100th anniversary in 2010, the Boy Scouts of America are redesigning the Official Uniform.
“We didn’t reinvent the wheel; we just made a great thing better. The high-performance, multi-functional new shirts and pants run the gamut from looking good at ceremonies to getting out there—hiking, camping, and getting involved. Loaded with pockets (some big enough to hold your Fieldbook), zippers (converting pants to shorts), gadget loops, and more, you’ll want it all! However, each piece transitions to mix and match with your current uniform.”
You can see what the new uniform looks like here.
What this means to you:
The old uniform is still official! There is no need to go and buy a new uniform unless you need/want to. The old uniforms will no longer be available for purchase (after current stock sells out), but that doesn’t mean that you can’t wear them. If you outgrow your pants, but not your shirt, you only need to buy new pants – you are free to mix and match uniforms.
The last time the Official Uniform was updated to this degree was back in 1982 when the current style was adopted.
