Committee Meeting/Eagle Ceremony

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Hello Troop 5:

There will be a committee meeting next Thursday, April
3rd, at the church.

Eagle Ceremony: Our Eagle Chairman Tefta Bushka has
not heard from ANYONE regarding clean-up help. Please
e-mail her to
volunteer. This involves putting chairs and tables
away and sweeping up the floors. It is not time
consuming, but help is needed.

Candy Drive: I don’t know where this one stands, but
if you can volunteer even an hour of your time on
Saturday, please e-mail Marti Peterson

Thank you!

Candy Drive help needed

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Hello Troop 5:

Adults and Scouts, we really need your help this
Saturday. We are running our second date for the
Troop 5 candy drive and are hoping to do two separate
locations from 9-3. If we do this, we can finish this
off and not take up anymore Troop calendar time.

Adults, please volunteer. Marti Peterson and I are
currently booked for six hours each on Saturday and I
can assure you, this will NOT make my mother-in-law
happy – a clean house is needed for her arrival on
Sunday for the Eagle ceremony.

So far, we have Pat M., Nick M., Mike J. and Steven Z.
Any other Scouts willing to do a two hour shift?

9-11
11-1
1-3

Please e-mail Marti Peterson ASAP

Thank you in advance for your help,

Maureen Marcucci, Committee Chairman

dates have been changed to Friday, June 27th – 29th.

Summer Camp Camperships

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Two important items:

From Jeff Lukens, Asst. Scoutmaster:

Hey Troop 5!

Thursday is the first day of spring, so that means it
is time to start thinking about Summer Camp at Camp
Mattatuck. We will be going to camp from August
10th-16th. As always, this is the final week of the
2008 camping season at Mattatuck.

Information on individual payments will be mailed out
in the next couple of weeks. The base price for your
week at camp will be $315. Your payments will vary,
however, depending on the discounts applied and
contributions from the troop based on fundraising.
Each scout will receive at least $30 from the troop,
with some scouts receiving more if they sold more than
$150 in popcorn. Summer Camp Payments are due May
22nd.

No scout needs to stay home from camp because of
financial reasons. There are many sources of
camperships available to scouts who want to go to
camp. If you wish to apply for a campership, the
first step is to print off this Campership
Application
and fill it out. These forms are due to
me at the April 3rd meeting. These forms are also
found on the Troop 5 Website
(click on Forms)

So, if you want to go to camp – stay tuned for more
information. If you think you will need help paying
for camp, fill out the attached form and return it to
me at the April 3rd meeting.

Yours in Scouting,

Jeff Lukens
Assistant Scoutmaster

EAGLE PROJECT UPDATE/DIRECTIONS:

From Steven Z.

I just wanted to clarify the directions to my project
site. From the center of Middlebury on Rt. 64. Follow
Route 64 toward Quassy, about a mile down the road you
come to Fenn Pond. Bear RIGHT on Charcoal Ave (instead
of continuing left on Rt. 64). Continue strait to four
way stop sign. Turn RIGHT on Artillery Road and
continue about a mile and look for big boulder and the
pile of mulch (you can’t miss it). My car will also be
visible on the road. I also need materials for my
project. I need gravel rakes, shovel and WHEELBARROWS!
Please let me know if you have them and are unable to
transport them, we can arrange to pick them up. You
can also expect that they will be returned to you in
good condition. Thank You again!!!!

Monday, March 17th, 2008

From Scout Steven Z.:This is for all scouts. Thank you for all the help
from the scouts and adults this Sunday 3/16 on my
Eagle Project to those of you who attended. We got a
lot done. I am working again this FRIDAY 3/21 from
10:30 A.M.-2:00 P.M. We will be finishing the mulching
if possible and the more people we get the faster it
will get done. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! It would
be great if I could get around 20 guys to help me
finish this. If you can go, please call me
as soon as possible so that way I can get an idea of
who is coming as early as possible. Also I will need
to give you directions on how to get to my project
site. If you plan on coming, please wear BOOTS and
bring gloves and warm cloths. And of course you can
expect LUNCH!!! Thanks guys, and again I could really
use your help. GID ‘ER DONE!!!!
