Monday, August 27th, 2007

From Chris M., Assistant Troop Scribe,
The minutes from the PLC will be posted on the
bulletin board. Also, all Scouts please remember to
pay your dues ($2 for anyone who didn’t know) for the
month of September. Give them to Toby A., or me if
he’s not there.

From Pat M.,SPL,
This is a reminder that there are Scoutmaster
conferences the next two weeks and boards of review
the week after for any scouts that need them. Also,
patrol leader elections and possibly OA (Order of the
Arrow) elections will be held on September 6th.

From Denise Black:

To the friends and family members of Boy Scout Troop 5

On Saturday, October 27,2007, Middlebury Boy Scout
Troop 5 will be hosting our second annual pasta
dinner, which is one of our largest fundraisers for
the year.

There are two ways in which help is needed in this
effort:

1. We are having a silent auction and would appreciate
any items you or your friends, family members, or
business may have.

Ideas – A gift basket, business service, gift
certificates, special hand-crafted item, “seconds”
gift that you just don’t know what to do with,
jewelry, antique item, Artwork from a local artist

2. Tell all your friends and family members they can
help by purchasing advertising space on the pasta
supper placemat. Spaces are available for $15.00,
$25.00 and $50.00 increments.

If you can help in any way, please e-mail or call Shelley
Pille (Middlebury coordinator) or you may also contact Denise
Black (Southbury coordinator).

bungee
2. A small grey fishing tackle box

6. A garbage bag of dirty laundry (Nice to know at
least one scout was changing his clothes during the
week)

Please contact Andy Riddle to claim ownership. He will

want to pick them up sooner.

Help is needed for the Popcorn Drive

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

From Jackie Mulhall, Popcorn Chairman:

Troop 5 Help Needed!

Troop 5 would like to try a new way to sell popcorn.
In addition to scouts selling popcorn individually, we
would like to set up a couple of days to sell popcorn
at the transfer station, Dinovas, Stop & Shop, etc.
This will offer scouts an opportunity to sell popcorn
in addition to selling door-to-door. Scouts who sell
at these events will get credit for a portion of the
popcorn sold that day. This approach has worked very
well for other troops in our area.

In order to offer this, we need some adult help. We
need people to volunteer to do the following:
- pick up our “show-n-sell” popcorn order on August
25. It should be about 10-15 cases of product, so it
should fit in most larger cars/vans/SUVs. We will
find out the pick-up location. This should involve
about 1 – 1 1/2 hours of effort that day.
- organize the show-n-sell dates. We could have one
person do them all or a couple of people each run one.
This would involve:
- getting the location/date
- getting scouts signed up to sell (2 at a time)
- bringing the product to sell/setting up
- closing down

If you are interesting in helping out, please contact
Maureen Marcucci at committeechair@troop5middlebury.org or Jackie
Mulhall.
