Philmont Deposit Due May 10th

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Happy Tuesday to all those who are interested in Philmont!

I want to remind you that your $250 non-refundable deposit is due this Thursday, May 10th, along with the signed information form found here:

http://www.troop5middlebury.org/Forms/PhilmontInformationForm.pdf

Please read the information on this form and return it to me with your check (made out to Troop 5) for $250.

Philmont is a popular destination for scouts, and with Troop 5 it is no different. There is a good possibility that we will have more scouts sign up and pay a deposit than our crew will hold (our preliminary list has 11 12 scouts and 4 adults on it). If that is the case, we will take scouts in the order that they expressed interest after the April 3, 2007 announcement of our trek. Troop 5 will make every effort possible to find a spot in another council crew for the scouts who are not selected for the Troop 5 crew. We want your son to attend Philmont! If we are unsuccessful, your deposit will be refunded to you.

Happy Trails,

Jeff Lukens, ASM and Expedition Advisor

Cleanups and Court of Honor Date

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

FLEA MARKET CLEANUP:

We had a great turnout at the Flea Market Clean-up for
the Middlebury Congregational Church. Thank you to
the following Scouts for helping out:

Adam B., Alex F., Frankie K., Nick M., Pat M.,
Paul M., Eric R., Kevin R. Thank you to John D. and
Will P. for coming to help out a bit later, but the
boys who came worked so hard and so fast that it was
completed early!

Thank you to Ed Nelson, and Robin Redline
for staying during the clean-up.

EARTH DAY CLEANUP:

Thank you to Ryan B. for helping clean-up Middlebury
on Earth Day and Thank you to Tefta Bushka and Elaine
Romano for coordinating and assisting at this event.

TROOP 5 COURT OF HONOR:

Our Troop 5 Court of Honor is scheduled for June 14,
2007. It appears there is a conflict for some
families in the form of an eighth grade graduation.

***At this time, the date remains June 14th.***

If you will be unable to attend on June 14th please
e-mail Denise Black so that we can survey how much
of an impact this will be. Please note if your son might
be advancing in rank.
