Merit Badge Classes Forming/Popcorn Update

***POPCORN MONEY IS DUE THIS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH.***

From Chris Way, Merit Badge Counselor:

Merit Badge Counseling is being offered on Tuesday
evenings (as needed) at the home of Chris Way in
Middlebury. I will plan on meeting with scouts as
necessary. If any Scouts are interested in the
following merit badges, please contact me.

Citizenship in the Nation
Music
Personal Management
Safety

In the spring, I will offer the following:

Soil and Water Conservation
Environmental Science
Nature
Gardening

Troop 5 Committee Meeting

Friday, November 24th, 2006

There will be a Troop 5 Committee meeting on Thursday,
November 30th at 7:00pm at the Church.

November 14th Update – Eagle COH & Scouting for Food

MARC’S EAGLE CEREMONY:

Many congratulations to Marc and his family on his
achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

Thank you to the following people for helping setup
and cleanup: Ed Nelson, Karen Curry, Ann Lang, Chris
Way, Jackie Mulhall, Michael Marcucci, Ken Bushka, Tom
Curry, Dave Redline, Robin Redline, Jeff Lukens,
Denise Black, Christine Dibble, and Mike Pendergast.

Thank you to all the Scouts and siblings who helped, a
few of whom were Marc R., Justin N., Tommy C., Nick
M., Patrick M., Jonathon W., Chris M., Ethan L., Eric
D., Stephen P., Erik R., Kevin R., Jennie C., and
Meghan M.

Thank you especially to the food warmers who stayed
downstairs to heat the food while others enjoyed the
ceremony: Jackie Mulhall, Chris Way, and Ann Lang.

SCOUTING FOR FOOD:

Troop 5 collected 87 boxes of food which will all go
to the food bank. That is a great effort for the
Troop right before Thanksgiving!

Thank you to Sue Mayer for all her efforts in
coordinating Scouting for Food and Valerie Sullivan in
assisting her.

Thank you to the following adults and Scouts who
participated in collecting and boxing the food:

Popcorn Pickup on Sunday, November 19th

POPCORN PICK-UP SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 10 AM – 2 PM!

Please pick up your boxes of popcorn at the
Lang/Laverack’s house.
If you cannot make the 10 AM – 2 PM time slot, please
ask a friend to pick up your order for you.

Your order forms will be returned to you with your
order.

***Popcorn money is due at the Nov. 30 meeting.***

Troop 5 Committee Meeting Minutes/Eagle Ceremony Help Needed

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

The minutes for the November 2, 2007 Troop 5 Committee Meeting were emailed today, November 7.
Also, we need help for this Sunday’s Eagle Ceremony.
If you are available for setup (1:45-2:45 PM) or to
keep the food warming while the ceremony is going on
(3-4 PM), please let me know ASAP.

Help is needed

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

1) Please volunteer to help with Scouting for Food.
Help is needed on November 11th from either 9-11:00 or
11-1:00 at Shepardson to supervise sorting food.
Currently, we do NOT have the required two adults
there at all times. Please e-mail Sue Mayer ASAP at
if you can help.

2) Help is needed on November 12th at the Eagle
Ceremony at Middlebury Congregational Church. The
ceremony starts at 3:00 P.M. We need adults and
Scouts to help setup, warm food, and clean up. Please
e-mail me at vicechair@troop5middlebury.org if you can assist.

3) THE BOTTLE DRIVE DATE HAS CHANGED. THE NEW DATE
IS DECEMBER 16TH. PLEASE CORRECT YOUR CALENDARS.
